Pawhawh Books

These books are written in Pahawh Hmong, an indigenous script created by Shong Lue Yang in the 1950s to provide the Hmong people with a written form of their language. Unlike the Romanized Popular Alphabet (RPA), Pahawh Hmong is a unique syllabic script deeply tied to Hmong cultural identity and literacy. It has been used for religious texts, historical records, and storytelling, preserving the language and traditions of the Hmong people. Though not as widely used today, Pahawh Hmong remains a significant part of Hmong heritage, symbolizing resilience, self-determination, and the preservation of linguistic history.
